#What this site is
Commonway System is a reference guide to street and road design patterns, compiled by an enthusiast and researcher, not a licensed engineer or planner. Every prescriptive claim in the guide is meant to trace back to a cited source; where it doesn't yet, the claim carries an unsourced-claim flag⚠. #Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is engineering advice, legal advice, or a substitute for a licensed professional. Real construction and policy changes require a licensed engineer's review, government approval, and local jurisdiction compliance, none of which this site provides or is a substitute for. Any application of the patterns described here, in design, construction, policy, or advocacy, is done at your own risk.
#No warranty, information may be incomplete or wrong
This site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that any information on this site is accurate, current, or complete. Mistakes happen, sources go out of date, and unsourced claims exist and are labeled as such, but a claim carrying a citation is not a guarantee that the citation was applied correctly or that the underlying source itself is error-free. Verify anything you intend to rely on against the original source, and against a licensed professional where relevant, before acting on it.

#Brand, trademark, and visual identity
The Commonway System name, logo, wordmark, color system, and overall visual identity are not covered by the site's code license or by the content-contribution terms described on the Contributing page. They remain the property of the Commonway System project and are reserved. Nothing in this site's code license, content terms, or the act of contributing to the guide grants any right to use, reproduce, modify, or create derivative versions of the Commonway System name, logo, or brand identity without prior written permission.
#Code and content licensing
The site's underlying code is open source under the MIT License; see the LICENSE file(opens in new tab) in the repository. The guide's written content is licensed separately: Commonway System retains the rights to the compiled guide, and contributors grant a license to use their submissions as described on the Contributing page. These are two different licenses covering two different things, and neither extends to the brand elements described above.
#Contributions
Submitting a correction, citation, or new pattern proposal through the project's GitHub repository is governed by the terms on the Contributing page and the repository's Code of Conduct(opens in new tab). We reserve the right to decline, edit, or remove any contribution.
#External links
The guide cites and links to external sources throughout: government manuals, published studies, agency websites. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.
#Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from this site is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Horry County, South Carolina.
#Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the project develops. Updates are reflected in the site's version history; see Release History & Roadmap. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
#Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
