Welcome to the Commonway System
This is the first post on what will be an ongoing record of how the Commonway System gets built: research notes, structural decisions, new patterns as they're added, and the occasional correction when something earlier turns out to be wrong.
If you're new here: Commonway System is a pattern language for roads and streets, a reference guide organized by Functional Classification and Street Typology, with every prescriptive claim traced back to a cited source wherever one exists. Start with the Guide if you want to understand how the system is put together, or the Patterns section if you want to jump straight to a specific kind of street.
This blog isn't part of the guide itself, it won't carry prescriptive claims or citations the way a pattern page does. It's the place for everything adjacent to the guide: why a decision was made, what changed and when, what's coming next. The Release History & Roadmap page remains the authoritative changelog; this is more room to explain the reasoning behind it.
