Multi-Use Trail / Greenway

An off-street path shared by pedestrians and bicyclists under roughly equal priority, similar to Shared-Use Path but longer-distance and often a destination in its own right, such as a rail-trail or linear park path.

Undeveloped contexts are an unlikely pairing.

#Design notes

Should accommodate a broader range of user speeds and behaviors than a Shared-Use Path, given its greater length and mixed trip purposes. Wayfinding and rest amenities become more important at this length.

Distinct from Bike Highway / Greenway (COL-BHG-04), which is bicycle-priority rather than equal-priority. This pattern is appropriate where the trail itself functions as a recreational or civic destination rather than purely a bicycle through-corridor.
